Port Arthur City Council

Port Arthur City Council on Tuesday voted 4-3, with Derrick Freeman, Robert Williamson and Mayor Deloris “Bobbie” Prince opposed, and Kerry “Twin” Thomas recused from voting, to award a $1,436,249 bid to Excavators and Constructors, Ltd. for the construction of sanitary sewer, paving and drainage facilities for Kerry “Twin” Thomas Drive to serve the Spur 93 Business Park.

The contract for the project will be through the city's economic development corporation. The city received two bids for the project.

The city council voted unanimously to establish a city council Finance Committee.

Mayor Prince, Mayor Pro Tem Harold Doucet and Morris Albright, III will serve as initial council representatives on the committee. The city manager and finance director will also serve on the committee.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Germaine Eddie to the Beautification Committee. Eddie will represent District 5 on the board.

The city council voted unanimously to amend the city's FY2012 General Fund Budget to include an additional $150,000 expenditure for renovations at the Downtown Pavilion.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote of the members present at the time of the vote. Council Member Liz Segler was absent. Agenda
