DIFFERENT MEN, SAME STRUGGLE:
COM COMMUNITY THEATRE PRESENTS “BILL W. AND DR. BOB”

In the tumultuous days following the stock market crash of 1929, two men meet by chance. Despite different professions and personalities—Bill is an ambitious, sometimes shady, stockbroker; Bob is a sardonic, easy-going surgeon—they discover commonality in a shared struggle with alcohol.

College of the Mainland Community Theatre presents the southwest premiere of “Bill W. and Dr. Bob,” which tells the true story of these two men who despite their differences together found Alcoholics Anonymous to help others struggling like themselves. Thoroughly researched, this play humorously and poignantly weaves together the tales of the two men and their long-suffering
wives.

Starring Bill Nealon as Bill W., Cliff Mabry as Dr. Bob, Amber Bennett as Lois Wilson, and Kathy Novack as Anne Smith, the play presents the story of genuine, relatable people.

“There will not be a person in the audience who doesn’t love someone or know someone who has gone through this struggle,” said director Mark Adams.

By turns humorous, intense and compelling, this play will capture audiences’ attention as they watch the failures and successes, of the two men who would become famous—but only by their first names.

The play runs from May 24 through June 17, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets range from $13 to $23. Discounted seats are available for seniors (60 and up) and students with current ID.
