Mrs. Beatrice Marie Pete Howard, 82, went home to meet her heavenly father and her husband of 61 years, Jim Howard, Sr. on May 14, 2012, at UTMB Hospital.
Beatrice was born June 20, 1929, in Lake Arthur, LA where she also attended school. In 1959 she received her nursing license and went on to work for UTMB, U.S. Public Health, and St. John hospitals; once retired she went into private duty nursing.
“Bea” as she was often known as, enjoyed spending time near the water, fishing, and also knitting, playing computer games, watching game shows, HSN, and sharing time with her family. She really enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids play volleyball in her yard. She was a faithful member of Greater St. Matthews. “Bea” was a very loving person. She never met a stranger and never said a bad or mean word towards anyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Jim Howard, Sr., daughter: Florence Preston and brothers: Leroy Pete, Sr. and Rufus Pete, Sr.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons: Lawrence (Ida) Howard of Houston, TX, Jim Howard, Jr. of Hitchcock, TX and Leroy (Sharon) Howard of Friendswood, TX; special sons: Calvin (Patty) McNeal and Leroy (Diane) Thibodeaux; daughters: Mary Rose McGregor of Texas City, TX, Sheryl (Michael) Jefferson of League City, TX and Elsie Williams of Friendswood, TX; special cousin: Betty Noble; 29 grandchildren; 42 great grand children; 12 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church with Pastor William L. Randall, Jr. officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved Jim in Haynes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
