Galveston's Provisional Ballot Board is meeting today to consider 99 provisional ballots cast in the city's May 12 General Election.
The board was scheduled to begin its meeting at 3 p.m. to determine whether the 99 provisional ballots will qualify as being cast in the election, according to City Secretary Douglas Godinich.
On Saturday, the ballots will be taken to the Galveston County Clerk's Office for a final tabulation to provide numbers for canvassing.
Galveston City Council has scheduled a special meeting for Monday that includes action on canvassing the votes. Agenda
The city council will also call a runoff election for June 23 to settle races which received no clear majority in Saturday's election.
Incumbent Mayor Joe Jaworski will compete in the runoff against Lewis Rosen for the mayor's seat. City Council District 4 currently also has a potential runoff between Diana Puccetti and Norman Pappous.
The provisional ballots could shift the determination in some races, such as the District 1 race between Cornelia Harris Banks and Tarris Woods. Banks currently has a 19-vote margin ahead of Woods.
