Galveston County
Jamaica Beach City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Jamaica Beach City Council on Monday hosted a swearing in for council members Gene Montgomery and Sandy Kershaw Denby.

Municipal Court Judge J.J. Brown administered the oath of office to Montgomery and Denby.  Council Member Eddie Burke, who was absent from the meeting, is expected to take his oath for another term on the council during a meeting tonight.

Denby replaces Sherwood Green, who did not file for re-election.

The city council deferred action until June 18 regarding a declaration that a property at 16715 Tahiti Way was in violation of city ordinances.

The city council also deferred similar declarations for properties at 16705 Captain Bligh and at 4415 Pelican Way.  Those items may be discussed during tonight’s meeting.  The owners of the two properties were not present at Monday’s meeting.

The city council discussed, but took no action regarding the erosion response plan, which was presented to the city council during the meeting.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  Council members Burke and Brad South were absent.  Agenda
