Galveston City Council at a special meeting on Monday voted 6-0-1, with Chris Gonzales abstaining, to accept the canvass of the May 12 election. 

Following the canvass, the winners in the city council election,  Cornelia Harris-Banks, Rusty Legg, Elizabeth Beeton, Terrilyn Tarlton and Marie Robb were administered oaths of office.

Mayor Joe Jaworski and Lewis Rosen still must face each other in a runoff election, as do Dianna Puccetti and Norman Pappous.

Mayor Joe Jaworski said he would never again use Galveston County’s election services and urged candidates who plan to file lawsuits to challenge the election to do so soon.
