by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Fort Bend County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to award a $17,993,966 contract to James Construction Group, Inc. for the construction of Fort Bend Parkway, Project B.

The funding of the contract is subject to closing on Series 2012 Senior Lien Toll Road Revenue Bonds, which are scheduled to close on Wednesday.

James Construction Group provided the lowest of seven bids on the project.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to engage the services of Allen Boone Humphries Robinson, LLP to serve as bond counsel for the toll road revenue bonds.

The commissioners court voted 4-1, with James Patterson opposed, to resubmit a grant application as a co-applicant with the City of Kendleton to the Economic Development Administration for $1,250,000 in grant funds to be used for water, road and sewer projects.

The Economic Development Administration has approved the City of Kendleton’s for further funding consideration on the condition that the county serve as co-applicant.

Under the agreement, the assistance district will reimburse the toll road authority for the construction of an access road along the eastern side of the Grand Parkway north of West Bellfort.
