Seabrook City Council Visit Johnson Space Center
On Wednesday, May 16, 2012 the Seabrook City was invited to take a tour of the Johnson Space Center. Those in attendance included Mayor Glenn Royal and Councilmembers Mike Giangrosso, Don Holbrook, Thom Kolupski, Laura Davis and newly elected Gary Johnson.
The two-and-half hour tour included a meet and greet with NASA personnel and guests, a look at the International Space Station Flight Control Viewing Room, a walk through the Apollo Era Mission Operations Control Room Floor, a tour of the Space Vehicle Mock-up Facility, and a viewing of the Project Morpheus Lander.
The Johnson Space Center is still the leader in human spaceflight and is continuing to build the Orion vehicle, operate the International Space Station and work with their commercial partners to build space flight capabilities.
Seabrook City Council recognizes the large economic impact the Johnson Space Center has on Bay Area Houston, including Seabrook. In fact 261 NASA Civil Service employees live in Seabrook.
