GREATER HOUSTON PARTNERSHIP TO HOST TEXAS HOUSE TRANSPORTATION
COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING ON PANAMA CANAL EXPANSION PREPAREDNESS
Houston – For several years the Greater Houston Partnership (GHP) has been at the forefront of advocating for state preparedness for the expansion of the Panama Canal, which is scheduled to be completed in 2014. GHP is therefore the ideal host for a special public hearing of the Texas House Transportation Committee on this issue.
The Transportation Committee, led by Chairman Larry Philips, State Representative, District 62, will hear invited testimony on the Panama Canal expansion project to help determine whether the state’s infrastructure is ready to accommodate the increase in commerce expected from the opening of the canal’s new lane of traffic. In addition, the committee will also conduct a review of transit services for Texans with disabilities.
