Sugar Land City Council

Sugar Land City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve an order canvassing the official results of the May 12 General Election.

Fort Bend County Judge Robert Hebert administered the oath of office to Mayor James Thompson, who was unopposed for re-election.  Video

Thompson then administered the oath of office to Himesh Gandhi and Joe Zimmerman as members of the city council.  Video

Gandhi won a three-person race for At-Large Position 1 on the city council, while Zimmerman ran unopposed for election to At-Large Position 2.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Thompson, and to appoint Gandhi and Zimmerman to the Sugar Land Development Corporation for two-year terms.

No other action items were on the agenda.  Council Member Amy Mitchell was not present at the meeting.  Agenda
