JURY CONVICTS SANTA FE MAN ON TWO CHARGES OF SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD

SANTA FE – A Galveston County jury convicted Michael William Bock, 32, on two charges of Sexual Assault of a Child in the 212th District Court on Wednesday.

Bock was convicted of raping his step-daughter’s friend over the summer of 2010. The victim, who was 14 years old at the time of the rapes, testified that Bock would give her alcohol and then sexually assault her while everyone else in the house was asleep. She described over six sexual assaults that took place during the course of several months at Bock’s house in Santa Fe. The jury also heard evidence that Bock raped the victim in Concan, Texas, during a family vacation. Photographs showing Bock and the victim imitating sexual acts were introduced into evidence. The jury deliberated approximately four hours before reaching a guilty verdict.

The jury will resume deliberations on punishment Thursday morning. Matthew Shawhan and Adam Poole represent the State. The defendant is represented by Tad Nelson.
