Pate Engineers, Inc. is now IDS Engineering Group
The Texas consulting engineering firm of Pate Engineers, Inc. has changed its name to IDS Engineering Group. Established in Houston in 1970, the firm has rebranded to reflect the completed employee buyout of founder Gerry Pate and the firm’s evolution into a group of employee owners providing innovative infrastructure design solutions to land development, municipal utility district, and public works clients.
“The name IDS Engineering Group recognizes the effort by all who have made the multi-year journey with us to employee ownership,” explained Debra Anglin, who has been with the firm for 28 years and was named President in 2006. “While the name is new, the staff members providing civil engineering, surveying, and consulting services remain the same. In fact, our clients can be assured that the people staffing their projects are owners committed to long-term working relationships. Unlike other engineering firms that have been bought out by national or international conglomerates, the employees of IDS Engineering Group decided to write our own destiny.”
In the Houston area, the firm has been responsible for such benchmark master planned communities as Royal Oaks and more than 2,000 acres within The Woodlands, and for pioneering public works projects like the City of Houston Water Tank Rehabilitation Program, North Channel Water Authority Surface Water Supply Plan, and the Deer Park Regional Detention Facility. IDS currently serves as district engineer for 75 Houston-area municipal utility districts.
