Performances and Concerts this week on stage in the Gulf Coast include “The Sound of Music” at Stage Door, Inc. in Pasadena and “Is He Dead?” at the Bay Area Harbour Playhouse in Dickinson.
Stage Door, Inc. in Pasadena will open its production of “The Sound of Music” on Friday at 8 p.m.
“A postulant who doesn’t want to be a nun; seven children who need a loving mother; a widowed father who doesn’t want to serve the Third Reich; a thrilling escape to neighboring Switzerland - and a musical score that has charmed the world since 1959,” said a synopsis on the Stage Door, Inc. web site.
Additional showings this week are on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. The show runs through June 24.
The Bay Area Harbour Playhouse in Dickinson will launch its production of “Is He Dead?” on Friday at 8 p.m.
“A young painter in love is threatened with debtor's prison,” said a synopsis on the Bay Area Harbour Playhouse web site. “He realizes the only way he could pay his debt is to die. Posing as his own sister, he prospers form the sale of his works, but how can he get the girl?”
Additional showtimes this week are on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through June 24.
The Alley Theatre in Houston will officially kick off its production of “Noises Off”, with an opening night on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Additional showings are on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The show runs through June 24.
Alley Theatre will also continue its production of “What We’re Up Against” this week.
Performances are Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The production runs through June 10.
Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston will host several events during the week, beginning Thursday with “Swing, Jive and Pop into Dance” on Thursday at 11 a.m.
Miller Theatre will also host “Sizzling Summer Dance” on Friday at 8:30 p.m., and the 23rd Annual Accordion Kings and Queens on Saturday at 7 p.m.
College of the Mainland Community Theatre will continue its production of “Bill W. and Dr. Bob” this week.
Performances this week are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through June 17.
Clear Creek Community Theatre in Nassau Bay continues with “The Man Who Came to Dinner” this week.
Performances this week are on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through June 10.
Main Street Theater in Houston will continue its production of “My Wonderful Day” this week, with performances on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. The show continues through June 17.
Island Etc East-End Theatre Company in Galveston will conclude its production of “The Miss Firecracker Contest” this week, with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.
Company OnStage in Houston continues with “The Foreigner” this week.
Performances are on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. The production runs through June 9.
Company OnStage’s production of “Cinderella” continues this week, with performances on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The show also runs through June 9.
Upcoming performances include “Camping with Gasoline”, showing at The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston on June 16, and “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”, presented by Theatre Under the Stars at the Hobby Center in Houston beginning June 5.
