Port Arthur City Council on Tuesday voted 7-1, with Robert Williamson opposed, to approve the 2012 Streets Program.
The city had originally approved proposed street projects to be rebuilt under the Community Development Block Grant Program.
“At that time, no streets were proposed to be rebuilt using general fund moneys,” Public Works Director Ross Blackketter said. “This was due to the $250,000 that was included in the streets budget for street construction being dedicated to the projects that are included in the Hurricane Ike 2.1 Recovery Grant.”
However, the funding from the grant has not been received. The city will instead budget funds for street construction using the general fund. The city will expend a total of approximately $500,000 under the streets program.
The city council voted unanimously to appoint Claudia Cade to the Beautification Commission.
The city council voted unanimously to appoint Daryl Segler to the Housing Finance Corporation.
The city council voted unanimously to approve a five year lease agreement with Climate Controlled Containers Manufacturing, LLC for property at 3451 57th Street.
The property includes a 34,400 square foot facility that will be renovated by the company.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote of the members present at the time of the vote. All members were present. Agenda
