The Hitchcock City Commission, in a special meeting on Wednesday, voted unanimously to approve a zoning change request to change property abutting Highway 6 between the city's east and west city limits to a General Commercial District.

The property abutting Highway 6 had previously been zoned in various districts, including Agriculture Residential, Single Family Residential, High Density Residential and Neighborhood Commercial.

A public hearing was held prior to approval of the item.  Agenda

During a special meeting held Tuesday, the city commission voted unanimously to accept the FY2011 Audit.  Agenda

According to Mayor Anthony Matranga, the audit provided a clean, or unqualified, opinion.

The city commission voted unanimously to approve updates to a contract with Republic Waste Services for the disposal of leachate and approved wastewater from the operation of landfills within the city.

No other action items were on the agenda for either meeting. Commissioner Randy Stricklind was absent for both meetings.
