Webster will hold a runoff election on Saturday to decide the final winners for two positions on the city council.

Edward Lapeyre and Diana Newland will be in the runoff for Position 1 on the council. Lapeyre took 79 votes to Newland's 70 in the three-person race on May 12, with Susan Levy receiving 47 votes.

Melvin Ellis, who currently hold the Position 1 seat, had reached term limits and was ineligible to serve another term.

Carlos J. Villagomez and Alexandra “Alex” Dietrich will face of for Position 2. Villageomez received 80 votes on May 12, with Dietrich receiving 66 and Douglas Allen North receiving 51.

Beverly Gaines currently holds Position 2, and is also term limited.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Results of the election will be posted on GuidryNews.com.
