GALVESTON’S GRAND 1894 OPERA HOUSE PRESENTS
WORLD PREMIER OF CAMPING WITH GASOLINE, JUNE 16th
GALVESTON ISLAND, TEXAS - Camping with Gasoline – a hilarious one-person comedy will make its world premier at The Grand 1894 Opera House on Saturday, June 16 with two terrific performances at 2 and 8pm. This “ain’t” no marshmallow roast… but there will be plenty of laughter and fun, when actor-playwright Jaston Williams (of “Tuna, Texas” fame), premiers his one-person show at his “favorite theatre in America” – The Grand.
Audiences won’t want to miss this journey as Williams guides you back to his West Texas childhood and the psychotic family Christmases known as “Blood and Holly”, to his Boy Scout troop, where the main activities were smoking, gambling, and sleeping late, and finally, join an excursion gone haywire in Guatemala.
A native- born Texan, Williams has performed on and off Broadway and come back to The Lone Star State with an impressive array of awards and credits. Recognized as one of the creators and performers of the Tuna series, he received the L.A. Drama-Logue Award and a Helen Hayes Award- nomination for “Best Actor”, and received the Texas Governor’s award for “Outstanding Contribution to the Arts by a Native Texan.” Williams has also represented the State of Texas at The White House by performing there on numerous occasions.
The Tuna series (Greater Tuna, A Tuna Christmas, Red, White and Tuna and Tuna Does Vegas) – performed now for over two decades – earned Williams a reputation as a gifted story-teller. Named “…one of Texas’ best storytellers!” by the Austin American Statesman, it goes without saying… You won’t want to miss Camping with Gasoline.
