Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Fort Bend County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement with Lamar Consolidated Independent School District for the services of the county’s tax office in assessing and collecting property taxes.

Under the agreement, the school district will pay the county $0.35 per parcel per year for the assessment and collection of property taxes by the Galveston County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office.  The district will also pay $1 per account to add delinquent accounts to the county’s records.

The agreement is for one year, with an automatic renewal for an additional year unless the agreement is terminated.  Agreement

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a housing agreement with Prisoner Transportation Services of America for the housing of Prisoner Transportation Services prisoners at the Fort Bend County jail facility.

The company will pay the county $25 per 14 hour period, per prisoner incarcerated at the county jail.  The county will provide a monthly invoice of charges for housing prisoners.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement between the county and Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 115 and No. 129 for additional law enforcement services.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve the expansion of the first-floor break room at the Travis Building into a 1,560 square foot multi-purpose room, at a cost not to exceed $10,000.

A request by Mark J. Hamlin on behalf of Wallis Family Real Estate, Ltd. to waive $9,371 in penalties and interest on property taxes was pulled from the agenda at the request of the taxpayer.  Therefore, no action was taken on the item.

The commissioners court took no action regarding an emergency item added to the agenda to name early voting locations and hours for the July 31 Primary Runoff Election.  The item will be considered at the June 26 commissioners court meeting. Emergency Supplement to Agenda
