Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to award a $3,491,570 contract to Allco, Ltd. for the 54-inch Interceptor Rehabilitation Phase II Project.
The project will include installing 10,410 linear feet of 48-inch fiberglass pipe, as well as additional pipe installation, removal and replacement of 30 manholes, and installation of nine new manholes as part of sanitary sewer system improvements.
“The existing sanitary sewer line on Blanchette Street was installed in 1954,” City Manager Kyle Hayes said. “The existing line has deteriorated and requires major rehabilitation.”
The city council voted unanimously to terminate a contract with Perfect Cut Lawn Care for the mowing of city-owned and abandoned properties and to award a new contract to BIO Landscape and Maintenance for mowing services.
“Perfect Cut Lawn Care is not meeting the specifications of the contract and is approximately three weeks behind schedule,” Hayes said. “Therefore, the city owned properties are not being maintained at acceptable standards.”
The city council voted unanimously to approve a rate increase for garbage collection services.
Effective July 1, the monthly rate for standard collection services for households will increase from $14 to $15. Fees for additional containers will increase from $2.50 to $3.50 per container.
Senior citizens will receive a 10 percent discount on the base garbage fee.
The city council voted unanimously to authorize an $8,500 settlement in the claim of Betty Williams. The settlement was discussed during an executive session on June 5.
All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Council Member Dr. Alan Coleman absent. Agenda
