Why: Aside from skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men, with 1 in 6 men being diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. As stated in educational materials provided by the “Gift of Life,” several healthy lifestyle choices can help reduce cancer risk, including eating a healthy diet, being physically active and maintaining a healthy weight. Since 2000, the “Gift of Life” has conducted more than 6,500 free prostate cancer screenings and helped extend the lives of more than 60 men who were diagnosed with prostate cancer and provided access to treatment. To find out if you are eligible for a screening and to make an appointment, please call 409-861-5940 or 409-833-3663.
