Seabrook Runoff Election
by Jim Guidry
Saturday, June 16, 2012

The City of Seabrook held a City Council Runoff Election today to determine the winner in the race for Council Position No. 1.

On the ballot were Robert Duncan and Robert Llorente. Duncan received the most votes in the May 12 General Election. Llorente won a dice role against J. Gail Poston to take the other position on the ballot after the two candidates tied for second place.

The winner will take over the seat held by Kim Morrell, who was ineligible to serve another term due to term limits.

However, due to equipment problems, the votes could not be tallied today.

"We have had problems with ES&S election equipment and we cannot get an accurate count of the election," reported City Secretary Michelle Glaser.  "ES&S was to provide telephone support today,  but they have not.  We have tried all day to contact someone at ES&S  to no avail.  We will continue to try to contact them, but it will probably be Monday, before  we can reach them and get a total count.  I am sorry for the delay.  We will notify you of results as soon as they are available."

Guidry News Service will publish the results as soon as the problems are resolved.
