The Port of Beaumont's winning entries included two awards of merit, for single advertisements and promotional/advocacy material.  The port also won an award of recognition in the directories/handbooks category.

The 2012 AAPA Communications Awards Program received 101 submissions from 25 AAPA-member ports by the deadline date of May 1.  A panel of public relations practitioners from the Washington, D.C. area spent more than 115 hours over a period of two weeks judging the 15 classifications of entries, ranging from advertisements and periodicals to videos and websites.

Based on the number of points earned from the judges, 15 entries from 10 ports received an Award of Excellence, while 19 entries from 12 ports scored an Award of Merit, and 24 entries from 11 ports earned an Award of Recognition.

Founded in 1912, AAPA represents 160 seaport authorities in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean and more than 300 sustaining and associate members, firms and individuals with an interest in seaports.  AAPA and its members are committed to keeping seaports navigable, secure and sustainable.
