upcoming closures at IH 10/Katy Freeway and SH 99
"TxDOT Contractor for SH 99-Segment E Ready to Hang Beams"
Houston - TxDOT contractors are making progress on the construction of SH 99 -Segment E of Grand Parkway. Workers will be hanging the north and southbound mainlane beams requiring the need for multiple closures starting Thursday, June 28 in the vicinity of IH 10/Katy Freeway and SH 99. Beginning Thursday, June 28 at 9:00 p.m., until Friday, June 29 at 5 a.m., the eastbound frontage road at IH 10/Katy Freeway and SH 99 will be closed. Motorists will need to take SH 99 South to Kingsland Blvd.
For the weekend beginning, Saturday, June 30 from 3:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., the east and westbound mainlanes of IH 10/Katy Freeway at SH 99 will be closed. Motorists will need to take the SH 99/Grand Parkway exit ramp onto the frontage road and reenter the mainlanes. The eastbound mainlanes at IH 10/Katy Freeway at SH 99 will be closed the next morning as well, Sunday, July 1 from 3:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The final closure over this 4 day period will begin, Monday, July 2 and close the IH 10/Katy Freeway eastbound frontage road at SH 99 from 9:00 p.m until Tuesday, July 3 at 5:00 a.m. Motorists will detour SH 99 South to Kingsland Blvd.
Segment E is comprised of 4 distinct construction contracts. This particular contract covers the construction of Colonial Parkway to Kingsland Blvd. and was awarded to Williams Brothers Construction for $49 million. It is scheduled for completion Fall of 2013.
TxDOT along with William Brothers Construction will make all attempts to keep the IH 10/Katy Freeway direct connector to SH 99 open during construction, but motorists should expect delays and may want to consider an alternate route if possible.
