Oil Painting Classes at Galveston Art League
A series of classes on Oil Painting for Beginning Oil Artists will be offered by the Galveston Art League at their gallery, 2117 A Postoffice Street, every Saturday in July. The instructor is Randall Kirby Cogburn, who has also taught the Art League's plein air series. Registration and set up begins at 8:30 am with lessons from 9:00 to 12:00. The fee for each session is $25.00. The first lesson on July 7 will cover contour and charcoal drawing and making color charts. The second, July 14, will cover color theory and use of a limited palette. On July 21, the third will include value studies using a grey palette and the fourth, July 28, will be painting freely using a limited color palette. Adults and teens 16 or older who wish to try out their artistic skills are encouraged to take these classes. The Galveston Art League was incorporated in 1968 to promote art through in the community and in the schools through exhibition, juried competition, sponsorship, workshops, and special events.
