County Attorney Ryan’s Lawsuit Against Dangerous Condominium In Court July 2nd

A lawsuit filed by Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan against Le Promenade condominiums, which claims the complex harbors criminal activity, will be heard on Monday, July 2nd, at 9 a.m. in the 164th District Court.

Ryan and the Greater Sharpstown Management District will ask District Court Judge Alexandra Smoots- Hogan for a temporary injunction ordering the owners of the condominium complex in Sharpstown to take steps to reduce crime. One hundred seventy-one of the 205 units are owned by one company, Huali Investment, Inc., and its owners.

Ryan sued the owners for habitually harboring criminal and gang activity. The lawsuit describes the complex, which is located at 7400 Bissonnet near Sharpstown High School, as a hang-out for an infamous Houston gang, La Primera, and as a location where fights occurred with rival gangs, including the Southwest Cholos.

Ryan will ask the court to order the condominium owners to hire uniformed officers to patrol the complex, install video cameras in common areas, repair the perimeter fences, clean up all gang graffiti, and fix all lighting.

If the temporary injunction is violated, the court may order jail time or a fine or both.
