Fireworks, games and entertainment planned for Pasadena’s July 4th celebration

The City of Pasadena will have a 20-minute firework show beginning at 9:15 p.m. on July 4 in celebration of Independence Day. The fireworks will be the final activity at the City’s 4^th Fest celebration, a free event that will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center and Municipal Fairgrounds.

The 4^th Fest begins at 4 p.m., and throughout the day, there will be activities, competitions and entertainment for the whole family. To help beat the heat, the air-conditioned Convention Center will be transformed into a KidZone, full of inflatable bouncers and games for kids, and many of the outdoor activities will be held under a roof or near misting stations. Guests can also enjoy complimentary bottled water to help stay cool and hydrated during the event.

The event will also feature the Toys for Tots BBQ cook-off, a petting zoo, pony rides, an exotic bird show, a water balloon war zone, hayrides, live music provided by the band, The Slags, and a variety of food and novelty vendors. There will also be a variety of athletic activities throughout the day, including a tire roll, a water balloon toss, a skillet toss, an egg toss and tennis activities.

The Car and Truck Show will return again this year and is open to everyone. People are invited to show off their car, truck or motorcycle for the chance to win one of several awards. Registration is open now and is only $15 (or $20 the day of the event). In addition to all the awards given out at the show – including the new Car Club and Import class awards – the first 50 participants will get a commemorative dash plaque, and the first 100 registered will receive a special edition calendar. And by participating, vehicle owners will also have a chance to have their vehicle featured in next year's calendar for the event.

Admission to the 4^th Fest is free. The event is sponsored by the Pasadena Parks and Recreation Department and several other City departments, including Volunteer Pasadena, the Pasadena Channel, the Pasadena Police Department and the Pasadena Volunteer Fire Department. The event also has many community sponsors, including Pasadena Health Center, Capital Bank, Waste Management, Lansdowne Moody and Dairy Queen.
