Galveston Police Investigate Shooting at 7th and Seawall
Victim Transported to JSER and Possible Suspects in Custody

(Galveston, TX)  – On July 6, 2012 at approximately 8:30 PM officers were dispatched to a shooting that occurred on the sand near 7th Street. Witnesses said that three men and one woman approached a man and words were exchanged. The conversation became heated, resulting with the victim being shot multiple times. The shooter and the other members of the group fled the scene in a vehicle. The first officers arriving on scene gathered a description of the suspect vehicle and radioed it to others on patrol. Officers spotted a vehicle matching that description heading off the island. The vehicle was stopped on the causeway and the occupants were detained pending further investigation. The victim was transported to JSER by Galveston EMS. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. The case is currently under investigation.

***Update: Victor Lara, 12/6/89, was arrested in connection with the shooting. Lara, a Houston resident (8330 Corvel #44), has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Tampering with Evidence. His bonds are set at $10,000 and $5,000 respectively. No other persons have been charged at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
