Galveston ISD invites public, vendors to attend Back to School Fair, August 17
Event at San Luis Convention Center is a one-stop shop for parents needing to get ready for the new school year, including school support, entertaining performances, and informative booths from local organizations
GALVESTON, Texas – The Galveston Back to School Fair returns to the San Luis Convention Center on August 17 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Some of the services provided by the fair include school registration including Pre-Kindergarten; free immunizations; signing up for bus transportation and finding out bus routes; uniform and school supply assistance; registering for before and after school programs; enrolling in the child nutrition program and much more.
“It’s a large a clearing house for parents to get everything done at one time,” said Kelley Romar, GISD Project Coordinator for the Homeless Education Project. “They can ask any questions, talk about their kids’ needs, and get ready for school. It’s also a great place for the community to show their support for the schools.”
Organizations from across Galveston will also be in attendance so attendees may discover what local programs have to offer. Groups that previously attended include Big Brothers, Big Sisters; departments from University of Texas-Medical Branch; the Galveston YMCA; the Family Service Center and D’Feet Breast Cancer.
The Back to School Fair will showcase some of the many talented students at GISD, including dance teams from different campuses. In previous years, the Morgan Starlettes, the Parker Jazzettes, and Ball High cheerleaders performed. Attendees will be eligible for door prizes and giveaways.
Vendors or groups interested in joining the Back to School Fair are asked to fill out a registration form. These can be found at www.gisd.org/backtoschoolfair. Please email them to email@example.com or fax them to 409-762-0635. Registration forms are due by August 10.
