The SS United States: America's First and Last Superliner

John Milligan will be at the Houston Maritime Museum to present "SS United States: America's First and Last Superliner" on Thursday, July 19th (rather than  Thursday, July 12) from 7-8pm at 2204 Dorrington, Houston, TX 77030.

The SSUS challenged conventional thinking as the safest, fastest, and most technologically advanced ship of its time. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of her maiden voyage this July, she still retains the Blue Riband as the fastest passenger liner to cross the Atlantic in regular service with the highest record speed.

John Milligan, a licensed naval architect with a strong interest in history, has worked in ship design and shipbuilding for over 40 years.  His experience in the industry has afforded him expertise in speaking about the grace and power of the SSUS and why it is still regarded as the pinnacle of ship design to this day.

Join the Houston Maritime Museum in exploring this unique maritime culture and in celebrating the SSUS's 60th anniversary! Admission is free and includes access to the museum's exhibits.
