Beginning Sunday, August 19, and for the next four weeks, ending Sunday, September 9, worship service times will follow the “Super Service” schedule: 8:00 a.m., Rite I, and 10:00 a.m. Super Service (Rite II and Contemporary services combined). 

Sunday, September 16, St. Christopher begins observing the new Sunday morning worship schedule.  The Rite I service will remain at 8:00 a.m., with Christian Formation beginning at 9:15.  The primary adjustment for most parishioners will be the time change for the 9:30 a.m. Rite II and the 11:00 a.m. Contemporary services.  Both services will occur simultaneously at 10:30 a.m.  The Rev. Dr. Tom Day, rector of St. Christopher, said, “This change simplifies Super Service times because, rather than a change in service time, Super Sundays will only necessitate a change in location for those who worship at the Contemporary service.”

Further, Rev. Day explains, “Most importantly, these changes have opened up the 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. time period for Christian Formation.  We believe that Christian Formation offers an opportunity for everyone to delve deeper into their faith and to find the resources and relationships they need to help them on their journey.  These changes will offer the opportunity for everyone’s participation in our multiple adult offerings as well as youth and children’s Sunday school.”

Following the Super Service on August 19, lunch will be served in the Parish Hall by the Youth Groups, who will also give reviews of their summer mission trips.   The Senior High Youth spent a week in the rural areas near San Diego, California, cleaning up streets, community gardens, and a horse ranch for troubled children.  The Junior High Youth went to Bastrop to help with cleaning up and rebuilding, as the residents there continue to work toward recovering from the disastrous fires in 2011.
