Major Reconstruction Set for Two Area Bridges

The road to revitalization is under way for two major Missouri City bridges.

The existing El Dorado Bridge over Stafford Run, located at Quail Valley Golf Course, is currently being removed due to its aging structure. A new bridge will be completely reconstructed during the next eight months, and the new platform will feature planter boxes, decorative lighting and pavers, providing a smooth golf cart ride for putters and a scenic walkway for residents and visitors. 

And, a few miles away, contractors are preparing to install a hike/bike trail under the Cartwright Bridge at Oyster Creek to connect Phase 1 of Oyster Creek trail to Phase 2. The enhancement will provide a direct link for citizens and visitors exercising and enjoying the natural scenery of the area.

As part of the El Dorado Bridge overhaul, a temporary golf cart bridge is being installed to maintain a travel path across the channel for players. After the new bridge is completed, the temporary structure will be moved and installed to permanently replace the aging bridge between holes 1 and 2 on the El Dorado golf course.

To alert residents and motorists to the ongoing work, detour signs will be posted along a portion of El Dorado Boulevard and along these key travel arteries: La Quinta Drive, Bermuda Dunes Drive, Hampton Road and Cartwright Road. Traffic will be rerouted to Cartwright and Murphy Roads.

City Council awarded a $1.75 million contract to Tropical Contracting, LLC, for the infrastructure projects, which will not only enhance mobility but further beautify surrounding communities. The upgrades are being funded with METRO mobility and bond funds.
