Galveston Police Department Promotional Ceremony
Chief Porretto Promotes Two Personnel
(Galveston, TX) On Friday the Galveston Police Department (GPD) held a promotional ceremony in the lobby of the justice center. Two department personnel were promoted.
Sergeant Tim Buck, a 9 year veteran, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Lieutenant Buck will remain in the Office of Professional Standards as the Commander. Lieutenant Buck was quoted as saying, “I am happy to be a part of an organization that is making positive changes in our community.”
Officer Dave Jones, a 6 year veteran, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Jones will report to the Operations Bureau for assignment as a shift supervisor. Sergeant Jones said, “I am looking forward to the new challenges and to utilizing my past supervisory experience.” Sgt. Jones served 14 years at the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department where he was a Sergeant for 9 years before leaving to join the Galveston Police Department.
Congratulations are in order for the hard work and dedication it took these officers during the promotional process. These men will continue to “Protect with Respect” in their new levels of responsibility within our community.
