The Galveston Park Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted 6-1, with Shane McDermott opposed, to award a contract to National Sign Company for the park board’s signage project.
The project includes new way-finding and educational signs to be installed at various locations. The board had approved negotiations with National Sign Company at its July 10 meeting to reduce the costs of the contract.
The board voted unanimously to approve a policy supporting fees to be charged for park board services for island events. The board also approved placing a procedure for requesting waivers in place, Park Board Chair Dr. Craig Brown said.
“If an event would like to have that fee reduced or have a waiver on that fee, they could come to the park board and request that, and the park board could rule on it at that time,” Brown said. Listen
