City of Galveston Hurricane Preparedness Meeting

The City of Galveston Hurricane Preparedness Team today met to review their preparations for a possible storm. Listen

“It’s that time of year - August,” said Gene Hafele, Meteorologist in charge of the Houston/Galveston office of the National Weather Service.  “Things are starting to heat up.”

Hafele reported that Tropical Storm Ernesto is impacting Mexico, and reviewed conditions in the tropics.

Members of the city staff reviewed their status.

“Good to go,” said Police Chief Henry Poretto.  “We’re ready.”
