Galveston Police Arrest Suspect in Attempted Sexual Assaults
Charges are Connected to the Seawall and Ave N ½ Female Jogger Attacks
(Galveston, TX) – Galveston Police have arrested Christopher Adrian Vela (W/M 07/13/1988) on two felony warrants. Christopher Vela is accused of attempting to sexually assault two women while they jogged; one in the 4700 block of Seawall and one near 51st and Ave N ½.
Patrol officers detained Vela shortly after the second attack near his residence in the 5200 block of Ave N ½. Information was gathered and turned over to Detective Johnson in the Family Services Division. Detective Johnson was able to gather more evidence and obtain two warrants for Criminal Attempt of Sexual Assault.
Detective Johnson was able to set up a meeting at the police station with Christopher at 4:00pm this afternoon. Christopher arrived at the station and was met by an arrest team in the lobby. Christopher Vela was arrested without incident and booked into the county jail on two counts of Criminal Attempt of Sexual Assault (third degree felonies) with $250,000 bonds each.
