City To Host Grand Opening for New Event Centre
Beaumont, Texas – The City of Beaumont will officially celebrate the completion of the new downtown Event Centre with a reception and open house on Tuesday, Aug. 21. The event will run from 5:30-8 p.m.
The facility held its first event, a wedding, on July 7, and the Beaumont City Council held its regular weekly meeting there on July 10. The public and media are invited to take this opportunity to tour the 16,000-square-foot hall, canopies, and outdoor plaza. Hors d' oeuvres will be served.
Construction on the $8.3 million facility began in 2010, with the intention of replacing the Harvest Club, a popular meeting and event facility that was damaged beyond repair by Hurricanes Rita and Ike. The Event Centre and Plaza includes a 2-acre lake with a 35-foot-tall aerating geyser, a great lawn for outdoor concerts and events, two large porticos, and a hall that can hold up to 650 people seated theater-style.
The grand opening ceremony will include a ribbon-cutting at 5:30 p.m. and remarks by city leaders.
