Webster City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to reappoint Mayor Floyd Myers, Edward Lapeyre and Carlos Villagomez to two-year terms and Council Member Natalie Dolan to a term expiring in one year on the Webster Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.
Dolan will fill an unexpired term left by former Council Member Beverly Gaines.
The city council voted 6-1, with Myers opposed, to approve, on first reading, an amendment to the city’s Fire Code to adopt the 2012 edition of the International Fire Code with additional language regarding automatic sprinkler requirements.
The requirements state automatic sprinkler systems must be installed in an existing facility ceases operations, vacates or increases its occupancy load under certain conditions. The conditions listed were that:
- The fire area exceeds 5,000 square feet
- The fire area has an occupant load of 100 or more
- The fire area is located on a floor other than the level of exit discharge
The city council voted unanimously to approve an interlocal cooperation contract with the Texas Department of Public Safety related to the Failure to Appear Program offered by the state’s Drive License Division.
Under the agreement, the city can provide information to the department of public safety to deny the renewal of a license for a person who fails to appear or pay to satisfy a judgment ordered by municipal court.
