Sugar Land City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to award a $1 million contract to Cedros Paving Services, LLC for the Sidewalk Rehabilitation Project.
The city received six proposals for the project, with Cedros Paving Services providing the best and lowest bid.
“Based on the budget, approximately 50,000 linear feet of failed sidewalk will be removed and replaced,” Assistant Director of Public Works David Worley said.
Cedro Paving Services has provided services to the city as a sub-contractor during the past 10 years, and has completed the city’s sidewalk rehabilitation work during the past three years, Worley said.
The city council voted 5-1, with Donald Smithers opposed, to grant a conditional use permit to Mercedes Benz of Sugar Land for the expansion of a new and used car dealership at 15625 Southwest Freeway.
A public hearing was held prior to council’s consideration of the item.
“The proposed expansion will include new and used auto sales car parking, parking garage, a body and upholstery service repair shop, and paint shop,” Jessica Duet of the city’s Planning Department said.
The Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended approval of the permit, with several conditions.
The city council voted unanimously to approve a lease agreement with The Arc of Fort Bend County.
Under the agreement, the city leases a building at the 123 Brooks Street complex to The Arc for a payment of one dollar per year. The Arc has leased the building from the city at that rate since 2006.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Joe Zimmerman was absent. Agenda
