HCSO DEPUTIES TO ENFORCE SCHOOL ZONE SAFETY

HOUSTON, TX – It’s back to school time and deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Motorcycle Unit will be out at various school zones throughout the county beginning on Monday, August 27 making sure drivers are obeying speed limits.

With the start of the school year at many school districts throughout the county, deputies will also be reminding drivers to keep their eyes on the road and not on their cell phones. If you want an "F,” text and drive in the vicinity of a school. (It's illegal in some municipalities). Remember, there is no text message that is more important than a LIFE!

Drivers need to also remember to watch out for school buses loading and unloading, and to yield to pedestrians on the crosswalks.

Traffic patterns change abruptly within many neighborhoods so plan accordingly and practice patience.

Let's make 2012-2013 a safe, happy and healthy school year.
