Clear Lake Shores City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve a hiring process for the next city administrator.
Current City Administrator Paul Shelley, who has served about 21 years with the city, will be retiring in January. The city council has established a hiring committee consisting of council members Amanda Booren and Carlo Ianni, Clear Lake Shores resident and Economic Development Corporation Director Daniel Otto, and Ron Wicker, who will serve as a consultant.
The city will advertise the position beginning September 11 and continuing through October, with phone interviews of six candidates in late October, and face-to-face interviews of three finalists in November and December. A final recommendation and decision for a candidate will be made in January.
The city council voted unanimously to hire Oren “David” Donaldson as a full-time police officer with the Clear Lake Shores Police Department.
The city council voted unanimously to implement a form to be completed by citizens when requesting to serve on one of the city’s committees.
The city council took on action regarding the east city limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city. Discussion on the item was held in an executive session.
