Galveston Police Arrest Suspect in 2011 Homicide
Charges Filed Against Mixed Martial Arts Fighter Ralph Garcia Jr.

(Galveston, TX) – An 11 month murder investigation has led to the arrest of a popular local MMA fighter Ralph “Plexin Texan” Garcia Jr.  The investigation led detectives to the home of “Salty Dogs” Motor Cycle Club President, Ralph Garcia Sr, whom is now in federal custody stemming from an out of state warrant, and his 23 year old son back in December 2011.

On September 5, 2012, at approximately 7:00pm Ralph Garcia Jr was arrested without incident on a charge of murder by Galveston Police Detectives and Patrol officers as he was training at the Combat Sports Institute in Galveston Texas (5124 Ave J).

The victim, 28 year old Maxie Flowers was fatally shot in the early morning hours of October 13, 2011 while riding his bicycle in the 5400 Block of Avenue L. It appears Mr. Flowers was shot after the two men had inadvertently crossed paths and Mr. Garcia was insulted during a verbal exchange.

The investigation is continuing and additional criminal charges are expected to be filed as a result of the investigation. Ralph Garcia Jr. is being held in the Galveston County Jail with a bond of $500,000.
