The Galveston Independent School District Board of Trustees, in a special meeting on Thursday, made no motion on consideration of hiring a law firm to file litigation against the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association regarding remaining claims of damage incurred by the district during Hurricane Ike.
Representatives with Hodge Law Firm, PLLC had proposed assisting in filing litigation against the insurance association to attempt to recover additional funds in damage claims. The attorney's fees were to be 40 percent of gross payments, awarded by settlement or judgment, over and above insurance payments previously paid to the district.
The item died for lack of a motion.
The school board also made no motion regarding the retention of the services of International Risk Control, LLC for loss management and forensic accounting services. The firm would evaluation business interruption, content damage and structural repairs resulting from wind from Hurricane Ike. The contract was associated with the proposed litigation against the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.
