Beaumont, TX – The Board of Trustees of the United Way of Beaumont and North Jefferson County today informed their volunteer base that President and CEO, Terry Bourdier, has died after an illness. Bourdier began his career with the United Way in 1986 and became Executive Director/President & CEO in 1996. In August of this year, Terry was recognized for his twenty-five years of service to the organization. In making the announcement, Chairman of the Board,Tim Sudela stated that the President and CEO-elect, Karyn Hawkins, would replace Bourdier in the position. Mrs. Hawkins has been Finance Director for the agency since 2000 and transitioned into the role of President/CEO elect on July 1 of this year. She is a Certified Public Accountant and earned two degrees from Lamar University
According to Mr. Sudela, the kickoff for the agency’s annual campaign will be September 13 as planned. “We know that Terry wanted us to continue. His heart was with the United Way,” he stated. “We will miss him greatly as will all the volunteers. He was an extraordinary man and he had initiated a strong plan for succession that has now been implemented. We look forward to an extremely successful effort,” he concluded.
