La Marque City Council

La Marque City Council on Monday voted unanimously to adopt a tax rate of $0.51436 per $100 valuation for 2012.

The total tax rate will be split to designate $0.408118 per $100 for maintenance and operations of the city, with the remaining $0.106264 dedicated to making payments on the city's bonded indebtedness.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the first reading of the FY2013 Budget.  A second reading of the budget will be required for final approval. Proposed Budget

The city council voted 4-1, with Connie Trube opposed, to approve a legal services agreement with the Hodge Law Firm, PLLC and Tylka Law Center, PC, and Law Offices of A. Craig Eiland, PC to seek compensation for remaining windstorm damage caused to the city during Hurricane Ike.

The city council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with Belt, Harris Pechacek, LLLP for auditing of the city's financial statements for fiscal years 2012 through 2014.

Several questions were asked by city council regarding the auditor's procedures and standards. Robert Belt, who represented the firm, was on hands to answer questions.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Trube and Mayor Pro Tem Keith Bell to the Federal Emergency Management Agency Task Force Committee.

The city council met in executive session to discuss the review of City Manager Carol Buttler.  No action was taken on the item following the executive session.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present.
