Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Port of Galveston Director Michael Mierzwa told Guidry News Service that he will announce his new choice for the position of deputy director at the September 24 meeting of the Board  of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves.  Listen

At the August meeting the wharves board approved Mierzwa’s selection of David Morgan at an annual salary of $158,000.

“He declined the position for personal reasons,” Mierzwa said, adding that his next selection will come from the original list of applicants, who all interviewed with the wharves board.  “We had some very good, experienced candidates including two individuals from the Port of Galveston.”

Senior Director of Marketing John Peterlin and Director of Real Estate and External Affairs Roger Qurioga have applied for the position.

The other candidates are John Horan, former director of trade development at the Port of Houston,  and Peter Simons, executive director of the Texas City Security Council.
