METRORAIL DOWNTOWN WEEKEND CLOSURE UPDATE
Businesses & residences still accessible on Main between Texas and Walker
Access to businesses and residences will remain intact during light-rail construction that requires closing Main St. between Texas and Walker this weekend.
START: 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, 2012
END: 4 a.m., Monday, Sept. 17, 2012
Rusk traffic will detour north on Travis, east on Texas, south on Fannin, and east on Rusk.
Capitol traffic will detour south on Fannin, west on Walker, north on Travis, and west on Capitol.
During this time part of METRORail service (between the Downtown Transit Center and UH-Downtown stations) will be suspended and service provided by dedicated METROBus shuttles operating every 10 minutes. Regular rail service will continue as usual between the Downtown Transit Center and Fannin South stations.
WHEN: From 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 to midnight, Sunday, Sept. 16.
Normal service resumes Monday, Sept. 17.
WHERE: Between the UH Downtown and Downtown Transit Center stations
WHY: Systems ductbank work and demolition preparing for new track for METRORail expansion
