Jamaica Beach City Council

Jamaica Beach City Council on Monday voted unanimously to adopt a 2012 property tax rate of $0.281307 per $100 valuation.

The rate is equal to the city’s effective tax rate, or the tax levy needed to raise revenues equal to the previous fiscal year.

The city council voted to adopt the FY2013 Budget.  The budget totals $1,141,910 in expenditures for the General Fund.

The city council voted to cast the city’s ballot in favor of electing Jay Stokes, city manager of Deer Park, to the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool Board of Trustees.

The city council voted to appoint Council Member Sandy Denby as representative and Mayor Pro Tem Eddie Burke as alternate to the Houston-Galveston Area Council General Assembly.

The city council voted to endorse the Galveston County Commissioners Court’s appointments to the Galveston County United Board of Health. 

The appointments include John Konikowski, Steven Leach, Bernard Milstein, Michael Ehart, Keith Casey and Scott Johnson.

All items were approved.  All votes were unanimous with all members present.  Agenda
