League City Invites Citizens to Open House at Newly Remodeled City Hall
Helen Hall Library Celebrate 40 Years of Service

The City of League City invites citizens to tour the newly remodeled City Hall at an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, October 5 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at 300 W. Walker.  The building opened to the public in July after nearly 20 months of renovations and a temporary site at 2450 Marina Plaza on South Shore Boulevard.  After getting settled in and putting on the finishing touches, city officials are encouraging residents to stop by to take a look at the new facility and take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of this renovation project.  Not only does this newly remodeled facility allow for better use of space, but it will serve our citizens for another 20 to 30 years at a fraction of the cost of a new facility,” said Mike Loftin, League City City Manager.

Staff was relocated in October 2010 while crews worked to repair structural damage done to City Hall during Hurricane Ike.   City Hall's façade was removed and replaced with a new structure and façade, then the entire building was gutted and remodeled. The roof and heating and air conditioning systems were replaced, and a drive-through window was installed for quick and easy utility bill payment. The original City Hall design had space for 50 employees. The remodeled City Hall can accommodate 75 employees.  For more information on the open house and ribbon cutting ceremony log onto www.leaguecity.com.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, head over to Helen Hall Library to celebrate the library’s 40th birthday celebration and open house.   The event will be held from 4p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 100 W Walker.  The event features behind-the-scenes tours, arts and crafts, hands on demonstrations of e-readers and a chance for kids to meet the Cat in the Hat.  Details about the event are available at www.helenhalllibrary.org.
