The Galveston Independent School District Board of Trustees on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve an employee retention incentive plan. News Release

The plan will provide a $500 check to salaried employees who were employed by the district as of May 31 and are still with the district. Hourly employees will receive a $300 check, with all recipients receiving the checks the Friday before Thanksgiving.  The budget includes $400,000 for the incentive program.

The school board also voted unanimously to approve an employee attendance incentive.

The incentive provides $100 for salaried employees every six weeks without an absence, beginning the period of October 8-November 16, and $60 for hourly employees.

The school board voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Matthew Hay as representative and Dr. Jeff Temple as alternate to the Texas Association of School Boards Delegate Assembly for the 2012 TASB Convention.

The school board voted unanimously to approve a $129,000 contract with The Flippen Group for professional services.  The group will provide training and professional development. 

The school board took no action regarding attorney fees. The item was pulled from the agenda.

The school board voted 6-0-1, with Sandra Simmons abstaining, to approve the minutes of the August 29 special meeting.
