The Texas City City Commission on Wednesday voted unanimously to adopt a 2012 property tax rate of $0.425 per $100 valuation.

The rate designates $0.3618 per $100 valuation for maintenance and operations of the city, while the remaining $0.0632 per $100 valuation will fund payments on the city's bonded indebtedness.

The city commission voted unanimously to accept the 2012 certified tax roll.

The city commission voted unanimously to approve an increase in monthly fees for garbage collection services.  The increase totals $1.95 per month, bringing residential bills to $12.95, small business bills to $18.95, and senior citizen bills to $10.95.

The city commission voted 5-0-1, with Rick Wilkenfeld abstaining, to approve appointments and reappointments to various boards, commissions and committees. Appointments
